WorkerMeter records where work happened and what it looked like, so a company can show that a job was done. That means it handles location and photographs, which are sensitive. This page says exactly what is collected, why, and who can see it.
WorkerMeter is operated by Serian Technologies. Questions, corrections and deletion requests go to william@seriantech.org.
Who the data belongs to
Your employer holds the records. WorkerMeter stores them on their behalf: they decide who is enrolled, which jobs exist, and how long the evidence is kept. If you are a worker and you want your records changed or removed, start with your own office. We will act on a request from the company that employs you.
What is collected
Your account
- Name, email address, and optionally a job title and phone number.
- Your password, stored only as a cryptographic hash. Nobody at Serian Technologies can read it.
- The company you belong to and your role in it.
Location
- Only while a job screen is open in the app. WorkerMeter does not track you in the background, does not use your location between jobs, and does not build a history of your movements.
- When you clock in or out, the coordinates and accuracy your phone reported at that moment are stored on the record, along with the distance from the job’s address.
- A clock-in that was refused is stored too, with the same coordinates. That is the point of the product: a refusal is part of the evidence.
- If the operating system reports that the location was simulated, that flag is recorded. It is not used to accuse anyone; it is recorded so a company can see it.
Photographs
- The before-and-after photographs you take in the app, with the time they were taken and the coordinates your phone reported at that moment.
- The camera is used only when you open the capture screen. WorkerMeter does not read your photo library.
What is not collected
- No analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers. The apps contain no analytics or advertising SDK of any kind.
- No contacts, calendar, microphone, health data or browsing history.
- Nothing is sold, rented or shared for advertising. There is no such arrangement.
Who can see it
- You see the jobs assigned to you and the evidence attached to them.
- Your company’s administrators see their own company’s workers, jobs and evidence, and nothing from any other company. That separation is enforced on the server, not in the app.
- Serian Technologies can reach the underlying database in order to operate and repair the service. We do not look at a company’s evidence except when asked to, or when it is unavoidable in fixing a fault.
Where it is stored
Application data and photographs are stored with Convex, which hosts the database, the server functions and the file storage. The web dashboard is hosted on Vercel. Both act as processors: they hold the data to run the service and for no other purpose. Data is held in the United States.
How long it is kept
Evidence is deliberately not editable once a job has been submitted — a record you can quietly change afterwards is not evidence. Records are kept for as long as the company that owns them keeps its account, and are deleted when that company’s account is closed or when the company asks us to remove them.
Deleting your account
You can delete your own account at any time, without asking anyone. In the app, open You (or Account for administrators) and choose Delete account. On the web dashboard it is at the bottom of Account. You confirm with your password, and it takes effect straight away.
What is removed immediately:
- Your password and every signed-in session, on every device.
- Your name, email address, phone number and job title.
- Any invite code still addressed to your email address.
What is kept: the photographs, clock-in and clock-out times and coordinates already attached to jobs you submitted. Those belong to your company’s record of work performed and are the reason the product exists. They stay against a record that now reads “Deleted account” wherever your name was shown. If you want that evidence removed as well, ask your office, or write to william@seriantech.org and we will take it up with the company that holds it.
Your choices
- Location permission can be refused or revoked at any time in iOS Settings. WorkerMeter will keep working, but clock-in cannot be verified and will not unlock — that is the product’s central function, not a punishment.
- Camera permission can be refused. A job cannot be submitted without the before-and-after photographs.
- A copy of your data, or its correction or deletion, can be requested at william@seriantech.org. We will respond within 30 days and will coordinate with the company that holds the records.
Children
WorkerMeter is a tool for employed adults. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who can see it, the date at the top changes and account holders are told before it takes effect.
